More than 30 firefighters were called to a tackle a massive blaze at a former church in Sutton.
The old St Theresa's Church building on Gartons Lane was burnt to the ground on Monday night (August 5).

The church was used as a parish community club until two years when it was forced to close by a number of vandalism attacls.

Crews from St Helens, Whiston and Eccleston arrived at 7.45pm and the fire was already well underway.

Aerial appliances also had to be used as the flames destroyed the roof.
The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.

No one was injured and the fire was finally extinguished in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
