Detectives are appealing for information about an attempted assault on a teenage girl.
The 13-year-old says a man tried to assault to her on Westfield Street by St Thomas' Square on Thursday (September 25).

At around 8pm she had been walking her dog when a man struck up a conversation with her and then turned on her.

She was wearing a bottle green school uniform and has blonde hair. She was walking a small terrier-type dog.

The man was around 30 years old, white, of medium build, 5ft 7in, unshaven with dark scruffy hair and was wearing white trainers, dark jeans, a dark top and a short dark jacket.

Police officers are appealing for the people standing at the bus stop on Westfield Street in the direction of the town centre to come forward.

Two men and a woman waiting with a child at the time of the incident may be able to help police with their inquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the events or who has any information should contact St Helens CID on 0151 777 1565 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
