A pub in Thatto Heath has been targeted in another suspected arson attack.
The Vine Hotel on Elephant Lane went up in flames in the early hours of Friday morning (October 10).

It is the second blaze in less than three weeks. Fire investigators believe that a petrol bomb was thrown through one of the downstairs windows and into the utility room.

Crews managed to contain the fire and there was slight smoke damage to the pub. No one was injured and the police have been informed.

During the last blaze, on September 19, the pub was empty but a television had been left on in the upstairs flat prompting fears that occupants may have been trapped and four firefighters using breathing equipment were despatched to search the entire premises.

Firefighters spent almost 90 minutes bringing the blaze under control and searching the building. The fire left considerable damage to the bar area.
