Daniel Anderson is being tipped to take over as the new boss at Parramatta Eels following the shock departure of Michael Hagan.
Hagan is unlikely to return to coaching after quitting the Parramatta post with a year to run on his contract.

He admitted he had lost the hunger to coach after eight years in the NRL with Newcastle and the Eels, shocking the Parramatta board by
handing in his resignation on Monday night.

A premiership-winning coach with the Knights, the highly-regarded Hagan revealed the constant travel from his home in Newcastle to Sydney and a need to spend more time with his teenage daughters played significant roles in his decision.

The 44-year-old has also endured ongoing health problems, hospitalised late last season with a case of vertigo.

Anderson left St Helens earlier this month after a three year stint at the club to return to his native Australia.

''I just don''t have the energy and enthusiasm that you need to do this role and I think it's only fair that I make that decision now so the club can make the necessary appointment for next year and get on with the business of winning football games,'' Hagan said on Tuesday.

''If you're not excited about the game and being in games - that's part of why I started coaching and I just wasn't feeling that as much.''

''If that's the case I think you are bound to move on and let someone else jump in that is passionate and wants to coach at the highest level.''
''I don't think I've got that passion left in me at the moment.''
''It's the right time to step aside.''
