Grand Final runners-up Saints start the 2009 season with a derby fixture against a club who haven't won at either the GPW Recruitment Stadium or Knowsley Road since Super League was born in 1996.
Warrington Wolves, who have lost their last 15 league games at St Helens, enter the lion's den once more on Friday, February 13, as clubs take the first step on a journey which they hope will end in glory at Old Trafford on October 10.

Saints first away match is at Huddersfield Giants on Sunday, February 22, and their second a history-making clash against league newcomers Celtic Crusaders on Saturday, March 7.

They will meet champions Leeds Rhinos at the GPW Recruitment Stadium on Friday, March 20 – the return fixture crucially pencilled-in at Headingley on Friday, September 4, when both could be vying for the League Leaders' Shield. They also have three dates against deadly rivals Wigan Warriors – the first at the JJB Stadium on Thursday, April 9, the second as part of the Millennium Magic Weekend in Scotland on either May 2 or 3, and the last at home on Friday, July 31.

The full list of fixtures are – February 13: Warrington Wolves (h), 22 Huddersfield Giants (a), 27 Hull KR (h). March 7: Celtic Crusaders (a), 13 Salford City Reds (h), 20 Leeds Rhinos (h), 29 Wakefield Trinity Wildcats (a). April 9 Wigan Warriors (a), 13 Hull FC (h), 19 Castleford Tigers (a), 24 Bradford Bulls (h). May 2 or 3: Wigan Warriors (neutral venue), 16 Catalans Dragons (a), 22 Harlequins (h). June 5: Hull FC (a), 12 Castleford Tigers (h), 21 Bradford Bulls (a), 26 Celtic Crusaders (h). July 3: Salford City Reds (a), 12 Warrington Wolves (a), 17 Wakefield Trinity Wildcats (h), 25 Harlequins (a), 31 Wigan Warriors (h). August 16: Hull KR (a), 21 Huddersfield Giants (h). September 4: Leeds Rhinos (a), Catalans Dragons (h).
