Saints' boss Daniel Anderson has received the perfect response from his buoyant Wembley heroes as the countdown to Friday's derby encounter against Wigan Warriors at the GPW Recruitment Stadium gets under way in earnest.
'Don't leave us out under any circumstances' was the message boomed out by the players as the club bids to lift the League Leaders Shield for a fourth successive year.

"Had we been facing any other side than Wigan maybe some of my players would have asked for a rest following our Wembley exploits," said Anderson.

"But apart from Paul Sculthorpe and Jason Cayless, who are out injured, every single one of my players demanded to play against Wigan – and that's exactly the response I wanted.

"Nobody was prepared to sit it out so I will be able to field an extremely strong team."

Ade Gardner, Chris Flannery and Matt Gidley, who suffered from the effects of heat on Saturday, have fully recovered and Maurie Fa'asavalu – a surprise 11th-hour inclusion in the Wembley squad – reported no reactions from a hamstring injury which had kept him sidelined since the semi-final tie against Leeds.

Prop Nick Fozzard, who was left out the Wembley squad, will return to ensure there is hot competition for places among the front rowers as the play-offs are about to get under way.

"We are much healthier in terms of players available than we were 12 months ago and that will be a bonus," said Anderson.

Saints have already beaten the Warriors three times this season and Anderson, who can boast an impressive string of successes over the club's biggest rivals since taking over the coaching reins in May 2005, will want to complete the regular season with a run of 22 straight wins under his belt.

Originally the clash was all-ticket but the club will be deciding today (Wednesday) whether to allow spectators to pay on the gate.
